#mydowntonabbey - Favorite images of Downton Abbey previous seasons - I WANT my Downton Abbey - Awaiting Season 4

What to do when awaiting season 4 of Downton?

Look at the pictures of course - the house, the interiors, those leather walls, the lamps, the floral tributes, the carpets - OH MY GOD - the dresses, the jewelry, the lamps - OMG - the story - let go, let go and let Downton Abbey whisk me away into a fantasy world that has THE most beautiful interiors a girl could ask for.

Blood red silk covering the walls of Sir Richard Carlisle's bedroom. Remember him? Lady Mary came close to marrying that newspaperman until first Matthew said "you DON'T have to," then Papa Robert, aka the Earl of Grantham said "break with Carlisle, bring us back an American cowboy to shake us up a bit."

The entire package of Downton Abbey, including the music written for the show, is a dream cake relaxed colour window into a world that is fascination complete.

Season 4 here we come.

December 28, 2011 Scotland Poetry & Drawing

    "My boat struck something deep.
Nothing happened. Sound, silence, waves.

                       Nothing happened,

or perhaps
                          everything

    has happened,
and I'm sitting in the middle of my new life."

                                     - Juan Ramon Jimeniz
                                                   Nobel Prize Winner in Literature

Art at the Huntington - John Frame

Here is the exhibition that words will not define. Here is the sun, the moon, the caress mother did not give you, the spikes of grass, the sea of green, aligned with a magnification of blinding surreal little whispers that we all have inside of us if we only listen.
Listen,
Listen.

Art - Theatre

I love the way John Lithgow began his recent one man show at the Taper. He looked at the audience and said what are you all here for? All you eager faces out there? What are you doing here? You want to be told a story. And he went on to tell how his favorite P. G. Wodehouse story revived his ancient father when he went back to help the old man who had become so ill. He began to read him his favorite story and then he acted out all the characters for us, there on the stage.
Touching. Immediate. Bigger than life, yet simple and real.
Such good theatre happening in LA now. Last weekend it was Jane Fonda in 33 Variations. Wow, the precision of the acting, the inventive set and the words that flowed through me and made me think, which is what the theatre is for..thinking, feeling, all the colors of life

Art class at Kellie Castle with Sheila Mitchell

Here she is, inviting me to add watercolor to the paper and make some marks that attempt to look like flowers. Such fun. Such terror. Such a complete other world apart while the oil is being spilt in the gulf, the ash is spewing from Iceland and the film festival rocks on in the Cote d'Azur. We make marks and discuss the upcoming UK election and weave our lives inside each others.
Tuesday, art day, settles everything down.
As they say in Scotland, lovely.

Poems that cut the ice of the Heart Spencer Reece

Suvan Geer's drawing, like Spencer Reece's poem MARGARET from the February 2010 issue of the Poetry Foundation's monthly magazine POETRY is one of those, when read, immediately asks to be read again. Because of copyrights, I cannot insert here, but can only say, like Suvan Geer's work of art, there is a whisper in it, and the silence inside the whisper stays with you and gives you something only poetry can.

This is the address: I'll find out soon how to link things on these blogs, but you can copy and paste the address into your web browser and read the poem...sublime.
